Sixteen and sitting in the back seat of Robb L’s Ford Escort with my boyfriend. Robb was one of the first to actually start driving and have access to a car. Was it 4th of July? The song’s popularity was beginning to wain, but still it would surface every now and then on the FM. This was the early 90s. I was in love and there it was. And this one’s held a magic ever since.

This album was on circulation at Remy’s Kitchen and Wine Bar where I spend my post-college years waiting tables. During the lull between lunch and dinner, while cleaning our tables and doing the NYT crossword, Phil and I, I’d listen for it. Oh- and in a bent to narcissism, my eyes happen to be green.
